About the position

The Principal Analytics Business Intelligence Engineer plays a crucial role in leveraging extensive experience in data architecture design, backend coding (primarily SQL), and front-end visualizations to create, iterate, and deploy analytical solutions that address specific business questions. This position is particularly focused on the healthcare delivery space, requiring a deep understanding of the industry's unique challenges and requirements. The successful candidate will take the initiative by serving as an engineering lead, defining tasks, and delegating or coordinating work among team members. Collaboration and mentorship are key attributes for this role, as the Principal Data Engineer will work closely with the Engineering Manager, Product Managers, Business Stakeholders, and other subject matter experts to understand business needs and requirements. They will assess the impacts of these needs and translate them into data-driven and data-centric enterprise solutions. In addition to technical expertise, the Principal Data Engineer must be comfortable navigating complex problems and ambiguous business requirements. They will be responsible for deploying and propagating standard practices in development for data engineering, data/report modeling, data architecture, and efficiency in product design. This includes ensuring visualization efficiency, gathering requirements, conducting business analysis, and collaborating with various technical and non-technical stakeholders to adopt these standard processes. The role is integral to fostering a culture of patient-focused, whole-person care, emphasizing the importance of understanding, commitment, and mutual respect within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage strong experience in data architecture design and backend coding to develop analytical solutions.
  • Prototype, iterate, and deploy solutions focused on specific business questions in the healthcare delivery space.
  • Serve as an engineering lead, defining tasks and delegating work among team members.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Manager, Product Managers, and Business Stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements.
  • Translate business needs into data-driven and data-centric enterprise solutions.
  • Navigate complex problems and ambiguous business requirements effectively.
  • Deploy and propagate standard practices in data engineering and data/report modeling.
  • Ensure efficiency in product design and visualization processes.
  • Gather requirements and conduct business analysis with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, Informatics or equivalent educ/experience.
  • Master's Degree: MBA or STEM area of study or 6 years of related experience.
  • 8 years of related experience in data, analytics, and/or Business Intelligence (BI) tools and technologies with direct Enterprise Production ownership and publishing.
  • 8 years of experience with SQL, Cloud, Visual Studio, ADO, Power BI, Tableau, or other development, reporting, or collaboration tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) proficiency or certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and writing skills with the ability to interact across functions at all levels of an organization and with customers.
  • In-depth experience with developing data and product roadmaps & functional specifications, UAT, customer support, launching new products, conducting customer research, and facilitating user testing.
  • Experience in the Healthcare Industry, preferably with relevant Electronic Medical Records (EMR) certifications.
