About the position

As a Principal Application Development Engineer in Core HR Tech at Atlassian, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the technologies that drive Atlassian's People engine. This position requires you to collaborate with teams across the globe, ensuring that our Core HR Systems are continuously improved and optimized. You will leverage your extensive experience in application development, particularly with the Workday platform, to navigate a dynamic environment and uphold engineering practices and operational excellence. Your enthusiasm for technology and commitment to refining workflows will be essential as you provide world-class support to employees. In this role, you will own the technical evolution of our Core HR Systems, guiding a technical team to deliver high-quality solutions incrementally. You will be responsible for defining the technical direction, unblocking challenges, and collaborating with stakeholders and other tech teams to understand problems and define effective solutions. Your accountability will extend to ensuring the quality of our Core HR Systems, proactively addressing performance, scale, complexity, security, and compliance issues. Additionally, you will provide documentation, training, and support to HR teams, enabling them to effectively utilize our Core HR Systems. As a technical thought leader, you will continuously think ahead regarding Core HR enhancements and share best practices that improve both system and team performance. Your role will be crucial in shaping the future of our HR technology landscape, making positive contributions to the team and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical evolution of Core HR Systems and related outcomes.
  • Define technical direction and unblock challenges for the technical team.
  • Guide the technical team to deliver high-quality solutions incrementally.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and tech teams to understand problems and define solutions.
  • Oversee the building and implementation of enhancements to Core HR Systems and related services.
  • Accountable for the quality of Core HR Systems, addressing performance, scale, complexity, security, and compliance.
  • Provide documentation, training, and support to HR teams for effective utilization of Core HR Systems.
  • Act as a technical thought leader, sharing best practices and continuously improving system and team performance.

Requirements

  • 12 years of experience in HR Technology with 10 years of hands-on experience in application development using Workday (Integrations, Core HCM).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong understanding of HR processes, technologies, integrations, and data.
  • Expert hands-on knowledge of Workday capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay up-to-date on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices.
