About the position

As an Application Engineer in Core HR Tech at Atlassian, you will collaborate with global teams to enhance the technologies that support the company's People engine. This role focuses on application development, particularly on the Workday platform, and requires a strong commitment to engineering practices and operational excellence. You will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and deploying solutions, while also mentoring team members and driving improvements in technical processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy solutions primarily utilizing tools and capabilities from third-party applications such as Workday integrations and configurations.
  • Utilize deep techno-functional experience in HR Technology to lead Core HR technology projects and support team members in solving complex problems.
  • Own the technical evolution of Core HR systems and capabilities within People tech.
  • Drive incremental improvements to team technical processes and practices.
  • Ensure operational quality of the team's deliverables.
  • Mentor and support team members.
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to create and plan project and product roadmaps.
  • Define SaaS product roadmaps, vendor QBRs, and assessment discussions.
  • Hold vendors accountable for their operational quality and service level commitments.
  • Partner with peer engineering teams to solve common problems and share best practices.

Requirements

  • 12 years of experience in Application engineering with 7+ years hands-on experience building solutions in Workday.
  • Deep expertise in building Workday Integrations utilizing REST/SOAP, Graph API, Workday Studio/Workday Orchestration, and middleware tools such as Workato.
  • Expert level hands-on experience in Core HCM configurations and knowledge of general HR functional processes and Workday capabilities.
  • Experience building solutions in Workday Extend is preferred.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Java, Python), with a willingness to learn additional tools and technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong understanding of HR processes, technologies, integrations, and data.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at different levels.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
