About the position

The Principal Application Engineer for Tapes & Labels at Henkel is responsible for delivering value to customers in the Pressure Sensitive Adhesives business through on-site product demonstrations, troubleshooting, and providing technical support. This role involves collaboration with various internal teams and customers to ensure effective product recommendations and problem-solving, while also driving innovation in adhesive technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-site product/technology demonstrations and troubleshooting for customers.
  • Provide applications-based technical support for product recommendations and complaint handling.
  • Serve as the lead resource for product demonstrations and training at customer sites.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams including product development and marketing.
  • Provide timely technical support for assigned regional customers, including complaint investigations and analytical problem solving.
  • Demonstrate project management skills by scoping customer projects and driving innovation.
  • Plan and communicate laboratory requests to support customer projects.
  • Prepare reports summarizing findings and effectively communicate technical information to stakeholders.
  • Drive the success of new technology platforms for pressure sensitive adhesives.

Requirements

  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or a similar degree/experience required.
  • 10-15+ years of Technical Service, Engineering, or Development experience in the Pressure Sensitive Adhesives industry.
  • Hands-on coating and/or converting expertise in at least one technology area such as hot melt, UV curable, solvent-based, or water-based adhesives.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with a range of individuals.
  • Excellent project management and organization skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40-50%, primarily in the USA and occasionally in Mexico/Canada.
