About the position

The Principal Architect at Vantage Data Centers will provide architectural thought leadership within the Engineering, NA Team, focusing on the Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) disciplines. This role is crucial for driving innovation and maintaining high-quality design standards for data center development, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and effectively. The Principal Architect will collaborate with various stakeholders, including sales, construction, and operations teams, to optimize design solutions that meet business goals while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership and strategic direction for the CSA field in North America.
  • Understand and balance competing variables in design, construction, and business considerations to achieve optimized solutions.
  • Lead the CSA discipline and coordinate with multi-functional partners, including customers and external consultants.
  • Support site-specific project design and development as needed, ensuring projects are delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Oversee all architectural work stages from pre-design to long-term operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of local planning policies, building codes, and regulations to facilitate planning permissions.
  • Implement standards, requirements, and critical metrics for design and development.
  • Mentor junior staff and support the development of training content.
  • Stay updated on industry developments and share knowledge within the organization.
  • Explore new concepts and materials to enhance design efficiency and sustainability.
  • Collect and incorporate lessons learned into change management and standards updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field; AIA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of overall work experience, with at least 5 years in a leading design and construction role.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership position preferred.
  • Experience with real estate development and owner representation preferred.
  • Knowledge of North American design development, construction documentation, and project delivery standards required.
  • Strong understanding of campus-level master planning and sustainability considerations.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, fluent in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with preferred experience in Power BI.
