About the position

The Principal Architect, Platforms at Plains All American will lead the planning and design of critical applications and technology platforms within the Enterprise Technology team. This role involves engaging with various stakeholders to align business and IT strategies, adapting to changing operational needs, and analyzing technology trends to support long-term planning. The Principal Architect will oversee the creation of roadmaps, solution designs, and risk assessments while mentoring other architects and stakeholders in architectural thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate alignment between business and IT by understanding business strategies and translating them into IT strategies and roadmaps.
  • Adapt to changing business and operating models by assessing the current state and recommending solutions.
  • Support various operating models by providing architectural guidance and oversight.
  • Drive the evolution of the EA team's services through best practices and tools.
  • Analyze technology trends and assess their impact on business outcomes.
  • Visualize the future state and trigger long-term planning through storytelling and presentations.
  • Communicate the value of enterprise architecture and its services effectively.
  • Engage with business and IT stakeholders to collaborate on strategic initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in designing and delivering critical applications and technology platforms.
  • Coach and mentor other architects and stakeholders to instill architectural thinking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in enterprise architecture or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly collaborative and customer-focused with relationship-building skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilient in embracing change.
  • Passionate, curious, and innovative with a willingness to learn new technologies.
