As a Principal ASIC Hardware Engineer at Draper, you will play a critical role in specifying, designing, verifying, testing, and documenting Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). This position involves developing the architecture, designing circuits and/or Hardware Description Language (HDL), performing simulations, and conducting physical layout. You will be responsible for verifying and testing designs, ensuring that all aspects of the development process are covered, from high-level design and specification to synthesis, layout, place and route, timing, signal and power integrity, and testing. Your duties will include designing and simulating circuits at the transistor level to meet architecture and requirements, performing physical layout including floor-planning, and simulating circuits using extracted parasitics. You will also design and validate Register Transfer Level (RTL), perform logic synthesis and place-and-route for digital designs, and conduct system-level design, including caches and memory subsystems. Additionally, you will perform timing, signal integrity, and power integrity analyses, optimizing hardware designs for performance, power, and cost. As a Principal Engineer, you will independently handle complex ASIC architectures and designs, driving solutions to intricate problems with limited direction. You will contribute to requirements development, propose solutions when customer requirements are unclear, and adapt to changes in requirements. Your role will also involve business development and proposal activities, identifying program/system-level technical risks, and developing and executing mitigation strategies. You will manage multi-disciplinary tasks with multiple engineers and effectively communicate project status to leadership and customers. Furthermore, you will develop, document, and teach best practices to less experienced engineers, ensuring a collaborative and innovative work environment.
