About the position

The Principal Associate Data Scientist at Capital One plays a crucial role in leveraging data analytics to drive value creation in Card underwriting. This position is part of the Bureau Data Strategy team, which supports a wide range of internal customers. The role involves developing expertise in credit bureau data, performing deep analysis, and presenting findings to senior stakeholders, all while contributing to the monitoring infrastructure for production-level data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop credit bureau data and industry subject matter expertise.
• Maintain strategic partnerships within the organization.
• Perform deep dive analysis on credit bureau data.
• Present analysis and insights to senior stakeholders.
• Contribute to production-level monitoring infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in data analytics, or Master's Degree plus 3 years in data analytics, or PhD expected to be obtained on or before the start date.
• At least 1 year of experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis.
• At least 1 year of experience with machine learning.
• At least 1 year of experience with relational databases.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in STEM field plus 3 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD in STEM field.
• At least 3 years of experience with machine learning.
• At least 3 years of experience with Spark.
• At least 3 years of experience with SQL.
• At least 1 year of experience with AWS.
• At least 3 years of experience with Python, including Object Oriented Programming, unit testing, and design patterns.
