The Principal Associate, Instructional Designer role at Capital One is an exciting opportunity to reimagine the learning experience for a group of hyper-digital, fun-seeking, customer-centric associates. The role involves collaborating closely with key business partners to translate business intent into engaging learning materials, focusing on digital-first learning methods. In this position, you will analyze learning needs and design blended learning solutions from raw materials, measuring and reporting on learning effectiveness. You will be responsible for scripting videos, storyboarding e-Learning courses, structuring simulations, and creating digital games. The goal is to deliver memorable and engaging learning experiences that not only meet business objectives but also delight learners. You will also collaborate with other Instructional Designers to streamline processes, share best practices, and stay updated on emerging learning trends. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about the associate and customer experience, enjoys creativity in their work, and is adept at using various learning technologies in a fast-paced environment. You will have the opportunity to lead stakeholder interviews, design training solutions that leverage current learning trends, and create assessments that measure learning outcomes effectively. Responsibilities

  • Increase the effectiveness of learning solutions by identifying and recommending formats and modalities that create an optimal learning experience.
  • Design and develop curriculum, programs, learning materials, and performance support tools from a blank slate based on industry design standards.
  • Design content, including measurable learning objectives, leader and participant materials, experiential scenarios, simulations, and assessment questions.
  • Decrease required development time through proficient use of Articulate Storyline for eLearning development.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and agility with new learning technologies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Design training solutions that demonstrate an understanding of adult learning principles and leverage current learning trends, including gamification and rich media.
  • Lead effective stakeholder, subject matter expert, and learner interviews to identify and curate relevant content.
  • Determine, recommend, and document project instructional standards and strategies, learner engagement strategies, and evaluation plans.
  • Represent Learning in broader project efforts, ensuring alignment with project timeline goals.
  • Engage with project team members to ensure clarity of goals and conduct ongoing reviews to meet client needs.
  • Participate in Train-the-Trainer activities when applicable.
  • Partner with other content developers to support material development needs.
  • Assist Learning Manager by identifying issues, diagnosing problems, and generating alternative solutions.
  • Create behaviorally-based assessments and evaluation methods.
  • Consult with senior leaders on performance improvement and learning strategy.
  • Make decisions by identifying issues, diagnosing problems, and analyzing opportunities and risks.
  • Set and achieve challenging individual goals that support department and business goals.
  • Predict resources needed to reach learning objectives and manage them effectively.
  • Assume personal responsibility for projects and follow through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Provide project updates to stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Proficiently use multiple rapid development content tools to create online courseware.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Instructional Design.
  • At least 4 years of experience with learning content development tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Design Suite, and Camtasia.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 5 years of Training Design and Development for digital modalities.
  • At least one year of experience in UI/UX and graphic design.
  • At least 2 years of experience with mobile content creation, curation, and delivery.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and video editing software).
  • Project Management Professional Certification or knowledge of Agile methodology.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite.
