About the position

The Principal Automation Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman is responsible for collaborating on the design, deployment, and maintenance of distributed architecture systems. This role involves developing and implementing enterprise solutions that align with best practices to support mission-critical objectives, while also maintaining awareness of market and technology trends to provide innovative solutions to customers. The position requires a Top Secret/SCI security clearance and is based in Tampa, Florida, with no telework options available.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the design, deployment, and maintenance of distributed architecture systems.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of enterprise solutions that support mission-critical objectives.
  • Maintain awareness of market and technology trends to provide innovative solutions.
  • Design, deploy, manage, maintain, and upgrade VMware vCenter, ESXi, NSX-T, Horizon VDI environments, and Tanzu Kubernetes Grid.
  • Plan, design, implement, and maintain a physical and virtual network environment.
  • Design, implement, and configure Windows enterprise architecture including Active Directory, DHCP, GPOs, DNS, and more.
  • Employ security hardening and automation of repeated tasks in Linux environments.
  • Automate engineering tasks utilizing scripting and orchestration tools.

Requirements

  • Five years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree in STEM; three years with a master's; no experience required with a PhD.
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance within the last 24 months.
  • DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher prior to start date.
  • Working knowledge in two or more areas: Data Storage Technologies, Virtual Infrastructure, Network Engineering, Windows Systems Engineering, Linux Engineering, Scripting/Automation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or YAML.
  • Experience with NetApp for data storage solutions.
  • Technical expertise with Cisco and/or VMware NSX devices.
  • Knowledge of routing protocols and network micro-segmentation.
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server and PostgreSQL.
