About the position

The Principal Big Data Software Engineering role at AT&T is a critical position that involves delivering complex data contributions to high-profile workstreams across the AIM portfolio. This includes areas such as Credit & Collections, Portfolio Analytics, Payments, and Global Billing Operations. The role requires deep subject matter expertise in the complete data life cycle of AT&T customer accounts, which is essential for managing daily complex data deliverables derived from various data platforms including Azure, Snowflake, SQL Server, and Oracle. The position demands a high level of technical proficiency in the AIM data ecosystem, including data structures, table design, ETL functions, and optimization techniques. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for writing extensive code for complex data solutions using technologies such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Databricks, Nifi, and Python. The engineer will also analyze data for anomalies, troubleshoot issues, and debug applications to support high-profile executive inquiries. A significant aspect of the job involves leading technical discussions to translate business requirements into functional solutions, ensuring that the data needs of the organization are met effectively. The position operates in a highly agile environment, requiring the ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and collaborate with data scientists and industry experts to understand how data should be converted, loaded, and presented. This role is designed for a senior-level technical expert with a deep understanding of AT&T technologies and a proven track record in software engineering and data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Uses Big Data programming languages and technology to write code, complete programming and documentation, and perform testing and debugging of applications.
  • Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in distributed, large scale analytics and visualization solutions.
  • Interacts with data scientists and industry experts to understand how data needs to be converted, loaded, and presented.
  • Works in a highly agile environment.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 5-8 years of experience in software engineering and data analytics.
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or Scientific Computing.
  • Deep technical knowledge and subject matter expertise in AT&T technologies.
