About the position

The Principal Business Data Architect at American Modern Insurance Group is a key role responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the organization's data architecture to support business objectives. This position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements, create data models, and establish data governance policies to ensure data quality and integrity. The role is pivotal in executing the Data Strategy aligned with the overall Business Strategy of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data architecture solutions.
  • Design and develop data models that align with industry best practices and organizational objectives.
  • Partner with the Data Governance Lead and data stewards to create data governance policies and data quality standards.
  • Work with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of data architecture solutions with existing systems and infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain data architecture diagrams, documentation, and metadata for transparency across the organization.
  • Conduct data analysis and profiling to identify trends, patterns, and insights for business decisions.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data architecture and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with data stewards to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work with data analysts and data scientists to ensure data architecture solutions meet their needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior data architects and other team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data architecture, data warehousing, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture principles, data modeling techniques, and data governance best practices.
  • Experience with data architecture tools and technologies such as PowerDesigner, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Cognos, etc.
  • Certification in data architecture or a related field.
