About the position

Discover is seeking a Principal Business Data Steward to join our expanding Data Governance product team within the Digital Data Collection & Measurement Product Family. This role is pivotal in enhancing our tag management capabilities, particularly in the context of marketing campaign management and data collection processes. As a Business Data Steward, you will play a crucial role in understanding the data needs associated with analytics and third-party tags, which are essential components of Discover's customer marketing ecosystem. Your responsibilities will include establishing and enforcing data compliance standards, supporting data management initiatives, and ensuring that data collection and sharing practices comply with relevant laws and regulations. In this position, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business, technology, analytics, compliance, and business risk teams. You will be responsible for managing and escalating risks and customer-impacting issues that arise in the day-to-day operations. Your expertise in both the technical and business process contexts of data will be essential in bridging the gap between business and analytics environments. You will also be tasked with executing controls, maintaining relevant documentation, and reporting progress to management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management and solutions, with at least 8 years of experience in a business role related to data management. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, or Mathematics is preferred. In lieu of a degree, candidates with 10+ years of solid understanding of Data Management concepts will also be considered. Experience in data collection, particularly in Tag Management or Marketing Technology, is highly desirable. This role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on Discover's data governance initiatives and contribute to a culture that values compliance and risk management.

  • Coordinate with upstream and downstream teams utilizing the data and identify correct business SMEs for discussions when necessary.
  • Execute controls and maintain relevant data/system/business process documentation and policy updates.
  • Partner with technology and analytics teams to complete business initiatives.
