About the position

The Principal Business Intelligence Analyst plays a crucial role in fostering a data-driven culture within the Henry Ford Health System. This position involves collaborating with leaders to gather data, generate reports, and provide actionable insights to various stakeholders, including executives and clinical staff. The analyst is responsible for developing comprehensive reports, implementing improved reporting processes, and mentoring peers while managing complex projects and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Tells a story with data insights and provides decision-making support to healthcare leaders based on compelling evidence.
  • Works collaboratively with leaders to understand how data solutions can positively impact operations; consults, designs metrics and reports, and builds solutions as needed.
  • Researches, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing report procedures and recommends strategies for enhancement.
  • Acts as a mentor to other team members and provides constructive feedback as necessary.
  • Facilitates conflict resolution in politically sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrates competency with complex projects and manages large-scale projects while monitoring timelines for deliverables.
  • Makes business decisions independently with little coaching and takes the lead when necessary.
  • Documents process flows and ensures they are monitored for accuracy and quality.
  • Provides end-user training on existing tools.
  • Participates in webinars and other educational resources to enhance understanding of current developments in the healthcare environment.
  • Creates recommendations for improving work efficiency and promoting quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Applies statistical concepts and relays findings, resulting in actionable information.
  • Serves as a liaison between Analytics and Market/Community business leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Applied Science required.
  • Master's degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Applied Science preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a healthcare or business setting.
  • Epic experience required.
  • Expert in the use of Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or other BI tools and report building.
  • Demonstrated application of statistical concepts.
  • Expert in the use of relational databases and development of data visualizations.
  • Proven customer service experience with strong active listening skills.
  • Effectively presents complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in the use of any Enterprise Databases or shared data repository.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record System (EMR) report development.
  • Experience in the use of a programming language.
