The Principal Business Intelligence Developer is an experienced Power BI developer who works with the Data and Analytics team to develop and deploy rich, clear dashboards to measure key performance indicators and other financial and business related metrics. This position focuses primarily on the creation and maintenance of scalable business intelligence solutions that improve decision-making processes by fully understanding stakeholder reporting and business requirements, enabling the appropriate data sources and models and ultimately building the required dashboards. The Principal Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for designing and implementing data storage solutions, developing complex reporting systems, and ensuring data accuracy and quality assurance testing and accessibility for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into technical solutions by designing and developing complex dashboards with Power BI.
  • Assist in analyzing data to identify key trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Translate data findings into compelling visualizations that aid in understanding complex datasets.
  • Support business insights through the development of descriptive and diagnostic reporting.
  • Incorporate new data sources from third party applications for use in dashboards and reports.
  • Partner with the data science team to optimize database objects based upon business requirements.
  • Support production reports and production environment, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to data refresh, capacity usage, connectivity, and performance.
  • Implement and influence best practices regarding visualization techniques, dashboard and data model optimization.
  • Enable and empower businesses and segments to access and interpret reports and dashboards effectively.
  • Develop end-to-end solutions for ingestion, storage, processing, and integration of disparate sourced data.
  • Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams to align solutions with business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Design and implement data storage solutions.
  • Develop complex reporting systems.
  • Ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Typically 10+ years in business intelligence and/or analytics required.
  • Typically 5+ years experience in Power BI as a dashboard developer required.
  • Typically 3+ years experience in Power BI supporting complex dashboards in a production environment required.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in Business Intelligence tools Tableau, Power BI Desktop, including advanced data modeling, DAX and Power Query.
  • Strong background in ETL processes related to the Power BI toolset.
  • Proficiency in optimizing data models for large datasets and improving performance by enhancing backend processes, data models, database views, and SQL queries.
  • Expertise with SQL and handling complex large datasets in Dashboards.
  • Power BI Admin experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data refresh, capacity usage, connectivity and performance.
  • Experience developing QA/UAT process.
  • Database management and optimization.
  • Highly effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Sales or Marketing Analytics or Data science related work.
  • Experience with Google Big Query.
