Matson Navigation Company, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Business Systems & Intelligence Analyst to join our team in Oakland, CA. This role is pivotal in understanding and translating business requirements and processes into actionable insights. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating sophisticated visualizations using Power BI and Tableau, leveraging expertise in SQL and data analysis to provide comprehensive solutions that drive data-driven decision-making and enhance our strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will seamlessly integrate business analysis with technical solutions, supporting our innovative and collaborative environment. In this position, you will collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, understand, and document business requirements, processes, and objectives. You will develop, design, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and Tableau, conducting thorough data analysis using SQL and Excel to extract, manipulate, and interpret data from various sources. Your role will also involve translating complex business requirements into technical specifications and actionable insights, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs), and creating visual representations to track and report on business performance. Additionally, you will provide ongoing support and training to business users on BI tools, Excel, and data interpretation, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security by following best practices in data governance and management. You will work closely with IT and data engineering teams to integrate new data sources and enhance data infrastructure, staying up to date with industry trends and best practices in business intelligence, data analysis, and visualization. Presenting findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner will also be a key part of your responsibilities. You will troubleshoot and resolve issues related to BI tools, data discrepancies, and performance, design and execute test plans to validate the accuracy and functionality of BI reports, dashboards, and data solutions, and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure BI solutions meet business requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, understand, and document business requirements, processes, and objectives.
• Develop, design, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and Tableau.
• Conduct thorough data analysis using SQL and Excel to extract, manipulate, and interpret data from various sources.
• Utilize Excel for advanced analytics, creating charts, pivot tables, and other data visualizations.
• Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and actionable insights.
• Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and create visual representations to track and report on business performance.
• Provide ongoing support and training to business users on BI tools, Excel, and data interpretation.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security by following best practices in data governance and management.
• Work closely with IT and data engineering teams to integrate new data sources and enhance data infrastructure.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in business intelligence, data analysis, and visualization.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst with at least 8 years' overall industry experience in the relevant field.
• Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Excel.
• Highly skilled in using Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Proficiency in QA testing and systems testing methodologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with agile, scrum, and waterfall methodologies of development.

• Knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry is a plus.
