About the position

As a Principal Cloud Engineer at MITRE, you will leverage your extensive expertise in cloud platforms to design, secure, and automate cloud environments. This role involves leading cloud projects, advising government sponsors on large-scale cloud adoption, and ensuring the implementation of secure systems in the cloud. You will collaborate with various teams to create impactful solutions in critical fields such as cybersecurity, healthcare, and defense, while fostering trusted relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a scalable and resilient cloud environment for secure interactions with team solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security team to define and meet multi-cloud security baselines.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between MITRE and the sponsor, cultivating a trusted advisor relationship.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize duplication of effort by offering expertise to other MITRE projects.
  • Write code to automate the provisioning of cloud resources in a multi-cloud environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of cloud leadership experience, including planning, organizing, staffing, and executing development projects with at least 5 staff.
  • Experience in cloud development leveraging Agile DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including documentation and presentations.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government issued security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Pre-existing Secret or Top-Secret clearance is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a programming language like JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, Go, etc.
  • Experience securing systems to compliance standards (e.g., NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53).
  • Experience using cloud automation tools, such as Terraform, AWS CDK, etc.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD automated build and deploy processes using tools like GitLab's CI/CD capability.
  • Experience with developing and deploying container-based solutions including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Cloud certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AZ-305, etc.
