About the position

The Principal Content Designer for Xbox will lead the content strategy for Xbox Rewards, focusing on in-product language and user engagement. This role involves collaboration with various teams to create seamless product flows and effective educational materials, ensuring a high-quality user experience. The designer will leverage their expertise to innovate content pipelines and workflows, driving engagement and enhancing the rewards program. This position is integral to shaping the future of gaming experiences at Microsoft, emphasizing inclusivity and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and create design system patterns, brand voice principles, and style guides.
  • Create and extend style and usage guidance across product families.
  • Produce novel ideas for simpler, modern, and better solutions.
  • Shepherd complex end-to-end product experiences, combining user experience thinking and design execution.
  • Raise the bar for content and experience design, coaching the creation of accessible and understandable product content.
  • Champion a shared vision to build products at scale.
  • Propose design prototypes and make the case for investments in content design.
  • Advocate for the design system to drive cross-discipline alignment across product families.
  • Define marketing strategy and devise positioning for the customer journey.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and workshops to answer critical business questions.
  • Mentor and influence team members to amplify capabilities and broaden impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 6+ years experience in product or service design, copywriting, technical writing, or brand marketing.
  • OR Master's Degree in a related field AND 4+ years experience in product or service design.
  • Proven experience leading projects independently and managing complex situations.
  • Portfolio of writing and content samples available for review.
  • Business level fluency in reading, writing, and speaking.

  • Natural and inquisitive passion for modern technology.
  • Experience working with the Design discipline (interaction, visual, research) and user research.
  • Agency copywriting experience.
  • Experience with content publishing tools and engineering systems.
  • Proficient with editing copy in design software like Figma.

  • Experience with instructional video and visuals.
