About the position

The Principal Contracts Administrator at BAE Systems plays a crucial role in managing and executing contract management responsibilities across a diverse portfolio, including government, commercial, and international customers. This position involves leading complex proposals and contracts, developing negotiation strategies, and maintaining professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. The role supports the delivery of ammunition supplies and modernization efforts, emphasizing employee growth and development through various training and mentoring opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage moderately complex or complex proposals, contracts, purchase orders, OTAs, and business agreements.
  • Analyze solicitations and prepare summaries based on the analysis, focusing on financial and business risks.
  • Participate in proposal team meetings and prepare terms & conditions for submissions.
  • Review technical and pricing proposals for accuracy and consistency, and prepare proposal documents for customer submission.
  • Coordinate with other company functions to ensure appropriate reviews and approvals are conducted before proposal submission.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Provide analysis of solicitations to maximize contract award opportunities while minimizing liabilities and risks.
  • Establish and manage negotiation strategies and financial requirements, conducting business risk assessments and recommending mitigation plans.
  • Prepare contract summaries and report on contract activity to management, providing recommendations for action.
  • Interface regularly with senior management to provide advice on contractual and business matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years relevant experience required.
  • Major defense acquisition and commercial contracting experience.
  • Highly developed critical thinking and communication skills with the ability to influence business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, team-building, and leadership skills.
  • Strong writing skills for clear and concise reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to manage organizational and contractual change.
  • Experience with cost type and fixed price contracts.
  • Functional knowledge of FAR/DFARS and commercial contracting methods, export, and government regulations.
  • Experience with complex contracts and proposal preparation and execution.
  • Ability to interact professionally at all organizational levels.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in risk management.
