About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Credit Risk & Approval Officer to provide independent credit leadership and oversight within the Corporate and Investment Banking Risk division. This role involves managing credit-related issues, conducting business loss forecasting, and supporting strategic initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive experience in credit risk management to analyze loan underwriting performance and present findings to senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate, and administer credit-related issues remediation activities including Regulatory, Audit, RAR, RCSA and other self-identified Issues.
  • Assist leadership in the preparation of materials for Regulatory and Senior Management interactions.
  • Provide credit subject-matter-expertise in preparation for Regulatory examinations.
  • Manage various projects and initiatives on behalf of leadership.
  • Provide subject-matter-expertise in the review of Credit Policies, Credit Procedures, and related Credit processes.
  • Assist with the preparation of Credit Committee materials.
  • Act as a thought leader for credit process change and efficiencies.
  • Liaison to Audit, Senior Credit Risk Officers, Front Line Credit Portfolio and Relationship managers and Governance & Control Officers.
  • Lead engagement for all enterprise risk programs on behalf of CRE Risk.
  • Work directly with lines of business to ensure all recommendations are supported prior to review and lead Risk based engagements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Credit Risk & Approval experience or equivalent through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of enterprise credit policy.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of Commercial Real Estate experience in either a Front Line or Second Line capacity.
  • Previous experience working with Audit, Control & Compliance in the creation, maintenance and testing of controls.
  • Former Enterprise Programs, RCSA and/or regulatory relations experience.
  • SharePoint experience.
