About the position

Toyota's Cybersecurity & Risk Management (CSRM) group is on a mission to become a global leader in cybersecurity within the mobility sector. As a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and security of TMNA's manufacturing applications and systems against external threats. This position requires collaboration with cybersecurity experts to develop, maintain, and refine cybersecurity policies, guidelines, and design patterns. You will engage with technical teams to enforce these standards, address security gaps, and provide support for security remediation. Reporting to the VP Cyber Protection, you will be part of the Cyber Protection team responsible for deploying and maintaining advanced, enterprise-wide security solutions. In this role, you will lead manufacturing applications and systems from development through implementation, creating proactive solutions to potential problems and challenging existing practices to ensure long-term benefits. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure manufacturing systems and applications, pushing customers to confront difficult issues for sustainable outcomes. Your responsibilities will also include designing and implementing hybrid/cloud manufacturing application/system solutions that adhere to TMNA's security standards, guidelines, and architectural patterns. This hands-on engineering work is essential to ensure that the infrastructure and applications are robustly secured against emerging threats. As a strategic business partner, you will provide value-added research and analysis to management, acting as a trusted advisor on cybersecurity issues, trends, and best practices. You will navigate variable situations within CSRM, OneTech, and Manufacturing processes, utilizing tact and diplomacy to build consensus and acceptance of ideas. Your role will involve creating new methodologies and strategies to ensure the long-term competitiveness of business processes, products, and services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing applications and systems from development through implementation.
  • Create proactive solutions to potential problems before they arise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure manufacturing systems and applications.
  • Challenge current practices and encourage customers to confront difficult issues for long-term benefits.
  • Design and implement hybrid/cloud manufacturing application/system solutions adhering to TMNA's security standards.
  • Provide value-added research in manufacturing cybersecurity and analysis to identify opportunities and create solutions.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to Managers and Executives, delivering strategic business results.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, providing counsel and guidance on cybersecurity issues, trends, and best practices.
  • Navigate variable situations in CSRM, OneTech, and Manufacturing processes to build consensus and acceptance of ideas.
  • Create new methodologies and strategies to ensure long-term competitiveness of business processes, products, and services.

Requirements

  • Experience in guiding projects from development through implementation.
  • Advanced interpersonal written and verbal skills, including change management and negotiation frameworks.
  • Subject matter expertise in manufacturing infrastructure/applications/systems security and cloud security best practices.
  • Deep domain expertise in IEC 62443 or NIST Cybersecurity Framework Version 1.1 Manufacturing Profile: NISTIR 8183.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer security architectures and protocols, including firewalls, DMZs, remote access/VPN, and penetration testing.
  • Experience with industrial control systems or operational technologies such as PLCs, HMIs, MES, SCADA, MOM.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices for operational support.

Nice-to-haves

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification.
  • Experience with Cisco, AWS, Azure, GCP, and SANS certifications.
  • An advanced degree in Cyber Security Management or related discipline.
  • Application development experience.
  • Experience in penetration testing, red teaming/purple teaming, exploit development, or reverse engineering.
