About the position

The Principal Data Analyst in Risk Management at Capital One plays a crucial role in leveraging data analytics to support the company's risk management initiatives. This position involves innovating and maintaining data solutions, providing business intelligence, and ensuring data quality management. The analyst will work with various data sources and technologies to drive insights and support decision-making processes across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage analytic and technical skills to innovate and build data solutions.
  • Utilize Open Source/Digital technologies to mine complex data sources.
  • Partner with business units to translate needs into tools and dashboards for insights.
  • Drive analysis to provide meaningful insights on business strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to data quality management principles including metadata and lineage.
  • Collaborate with Tech teams to manage data access governance and security mechanisms.
  • Build and execute tools to monitor and report on data quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline plus at least 5 years of experience in data analytics, or a Master's Degree plus at least 3 years, or a PhD with expected completion by the start date.
  • At least 3 years of experience in at least one scripting language (Python, R, Spark, SQL).
  • At least 1 year of experience utilizing a business intelligence visualization tool.
  • At least 3 years of experience querying and analyzing data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL.
  • At least 4 years of experience in process management and improvement methodologies (Agile, Lean, Six Sigma).
  • At least 2 years of experience utilizing and developing within AWS services.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Data Governance and Data Quality Management within the financial services industry.
