About the position

As a Principal Data Analyst at Capital One, you will play a crucial role in leveraging analytic and technical skills to innovate and maintain data solutions that address business challenges. The position focuses on three key areas: Innovation, Business Intelligence, and Data Management, where you will utilize open-source technologies, partner with business units for insights, and ensure data quality management.

Responsibilities

• Utilize open source and digital technologies to mine complex and voluminous data sources.
• Build well-managed data solutions and tools for self-service frameworks for data consumers.
• Partner with business units to translate needs into tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights.
• Drive analysis that provides meaningful insights on business strategies.
• Ensure adherence to data quality management principles including metadata and lineage.
• Collaborate with tech teams to manage security mechanisms and data access governance.
• Build and execute tools to monitor and report on data quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline plus at least 5 years of experience in data analytics, or a Master's Degree plus at least 3 years, or a PhD with expected completion by the start date.
• At least 3 years of experience in at least one scripting language (Python, R, Spark, SQL).
• At least 1 year of experience utilizing a business intelligence visualization tool.
• At least 3 years of experience in querying and analyzing data.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL.
• At least 4 years of experience in process management and improvement methodologies (Agile, Lean, Six Sigma).
• At least 2 years of experience utilizing and developing within AWS services.
• At least 2 years of experience in Data Governance and Data Quality Management within the financial services industry.
