About the position

The Data Platform Architect at IBM is responsible for the comprehensive design, implementation, and management of data platforms that support Apptio's data-driven initiatives. This role focuses on developing a unified data model that integrates seamlessly with various stakeholder teams, ensuring alignment with Apptio's vision and objectives. The architect will oversee data strategy, architecture, integration, security, governance, and performance optimization, while also documenting and monitoring the data platform's effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data platforms that support data-driven initiatives.
• Develop and maintain a unified data model for integration with multiple stakeholder teams.
• Oversee data strategy, architecture, integration, security, and governance.
• Optimize performance and scalability of data platforms.
• Document standards and architecture to support partner solutions.
• Collaborate with various teams to ensure a consistent data model.
• Monitor and support data platform operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in a data architect role with a track record of developing large-scale data solutions.
• Strong knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with data integration frameworks (ETL/ELT) and optimizing data pipelines.
• Familiarity with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) and data streaming services (Kafka).
• Proficient in at least one object-oriented programming language (Java or C#).
• Expertise in data modeling and data warehousing principles.
• Solid understanding of data security and privacy laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in AI and machine learning model deployment.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD processes.
• Prior experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Knowledge of metadata management and reporting/BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI).
• Professional certifications related to data architecture (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
