About the position

The Principal Data Architect position at MGM Resorts is a leadership role focused on shaping the future of the company's data landscape. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data architectures specifically on the Microsoft Azure platform, with a strong emphasis on big data solutions. This role is critical in ensuring that the data architecture aligns with the business needs and supports the overall mission of the company to entertain and provide an unmatched escape for guests. In this position, the Principal Data Architect will lead the definition and implementation of the enterprise data architecture, utilizing Azure data services such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks. The architect will work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate these into technical specifications that guide the development of data models, pipelines, and integration processes. This ensures efficient and secure data movement across the organization, which is vital for operational success. Additionally, the Principal Data Architect will champion best practices in data governance, quality, and security, ensuring that the data architecture adheres to industry standards and regulations. Staying current with emerging trends and technologies in the big data space is essential, as the architect will evaluate their potential impact on improving the existing data architecture. Furthermore, this role includes mentoring and guiding junior data architects and engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 8+ years of prior relevant experience in data architecture or related field.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality, and data security principles.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and methodologies.
