About the position

The Principal Data Architect at MITRE will serve as a strategic advisor to the Office of the IC Chief Data Officer, focusing on data architecture direction and trends. This role involves developing and implementing data reference architecture in collaboration with the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense, ensuring data is securely accessible and interoperable. The position requires a deep understanding of data architecture principles and the ability to communicate effectively with senior government officials.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Office of the IC Chief Data Officer on data architecture direction and trends.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement data reference architecture with input from the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on data architecture to senior government officials.
  • Interface between technical experts and government to align mission needs with policy decisions.
  • Work on data management policy to serve the current and future needs of the Intelligence Community.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
  • 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; 8 years with a Master's; 5 years with a Ph.D.; or equivalent experience.
  • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated data architecture skills with examples of previously developed architectures.
  • Experience and understanding of data mesh principles.
  • Knowledge of US federal data architecture standards and policies.
  • Experience developing IC or DoD data architecture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience supporting a chief data officer.
  • Experience working with senior government officials managing competing equities.
  • Experience coordinating complex concepts across diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of National Security, Intelligence Community, and DoD data architecture policies.
  • Experience implementing data interoperability concepts.
