The N927 Mission Engineering Department is seeking a Principal Data Architect to provide subject matter expertise in data management and architecture to the Intelligence Community (IC) Chief Data Officer. This role is crucial in making data securely accessible and interoperable across various domains. The Data Architect will advise on data architecture direction, formulation, and trends, collaborating with the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense to develop and implement data reference architecture. This position requires a strategic advisor who can bridge the gap between technical experts and government officials, ensuring that mission needs align with achievable policy outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data architecture, reference architectures, and data mesh principles, along with experience in developing comprehensive data reference architecture documents and models. The candidate should be adept at explaining and implementing best practices in data architecture across government, public, and private sectors, serving as an informed partner to government leaders who depend on MITRE's expertise to advance their interests in data architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Office of the IC Chief Data Officer on data architecture direction and trends.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement data reference architecture with input from the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on data architecture to senior government officials in the IC Chief Data Office.
  • Interface between technical experts and government officials to align mission needs with policy decisions.
  • Work on data management policy designed to meet current and future needs of the Intelligence Community.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
  • 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; 8 years of experience with a Master's degree; 5 years of experience with a Ph.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated data architecture skills with examples of previously developed architectures.
  • Experience and understanding of data mesh principles.
  • Knowledge of US federal data architecture standards and policies.
  • Experience developing data architecture for the Intelligence Community or Department of Defense.

  • Master's Degree in a relevant discipline.
