About the position

The position involves applying data extraction, transformation, and loading techniques to connect large data sets from various sources. The role focuses on creating data collection frameworks for both structured and unstructured data, developing and maintaining infrastructure systems such as data warehouses and data lakes, and preparing data using technologies like Hadoop. The employee is recognized as an expert in their field, solving complex problems and contributing to functional strategy while mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
  • Creates data collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
  • Applies data extraction, transformation, and loading techniques to connect large data sets from various sources.
  • Develops data models by studying existing data warehouse architecture and evaluating alternative logical data models.
  • Solves complex problems and develops and maintains infrastructure systems including data access APIs.
  • Recommends process, product, or service improvements.
  • Acts as a mentor for colleagues with less experience.
  • Manages the data collection process and provides interpretation and recommendations to management.
  • Executes quantitative analyses that translate data into actionable insights.
  • Designs, manages, and conducts quality control procedures for data sets using data from multiple systems.
  • Oversees the delivery of engineering data initiatives and projects.
  • Supports long-term data initiatives as well as ad-hoc analysis and ETL activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or 4 additional years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 10 years of experience leading database design and developing modeling tools.
  • Experience in leading data engineering and cross-functional teams to implement scalable ETL/ELT solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with application development, relational database layout, and data modeling.
  • Expert in at least one programming language (i.e., SQL, NoSQL, Python).
  • Knowledge of multiple database technologies - structured and unstructured.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Data Management Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) certification preferred.
