About the position

The Principal Data Engineer position at St. Joseph Health is a pivotal role that primarily focuses on establishing and maintaining optimal configurations for the Directory Services environment at Providence Health Plan. This position is predominantly remote, with approximately 95% of the work being conducted from home, although occasional travel may be required for business-related meetings. The role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Infrastructure Engineering, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and communication within the team. In this role, the Principal Data Engineer will be responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining systems and processes that ensure the efficiency and security of the Directory Services environment. This includes managing a large-scale environment of over 4,000 distributed client/server systems, integrating various systems, and ensuring compliance with information security protocols. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and other directory services technologies to enhance the organization's infrastructure. Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain optimal configuration of the Directory Services environment.
  • Manage an environment of 4,000+ distributed client/server systems.
  • Integrate systems with a focus on information security technology development and support.
  • Implement and manage Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and related technologies.
  • Apply Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Policy-Based Access Control (PBAC), and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) to delegated resources and applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system integrity and security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 10+ years of experience managing a large-scale distributed client/server environment.
  • 6 years of systems integration and engineering experience, focusing on information security technology development and administration.
  • 10+ years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and related technologies.
  • 8 years of hands-on experience with Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM).
  • Experience with Directory Services technologies such as LDAP, AD, EntraID, Kerberos, and NTLM.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft AZURE, O365 Enterprise, PowerShell, and Intune are strongly preferred.
  • Working experience with VMWare vSphere, Horizon View, and Aria.
  • SQL DB and SQL Reporting service experience with a focus on executive-ready reporting.
