About the position

The Principal Data Management Engineer at MITRE will serve as a subject matter expert advising the Office of the IC Chief Data Officer on data management matters. This role involves developing, coordinating, and implementing data management initiatives, strategies, and policies across the Intelligence Community. The engineer will act as a strategic advisor to senior government leadership, bridging the gap between technical experts and policy decisions to enhance data governance and interoperability.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Office of the IC Chief Data Officer on data management matters.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement data management initiatives and strategies across the Intelligence Community.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior government leadership regarding data management policies and practices.
  • Interface between technical experts and government leaders to align mission needs with policy outcomes.
  • Explain and implement best data practices from various sectors to advance government interests.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; 8 years with a Master's; 5 years with a Ph.D.; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with US federal data management standards and policies.
  • Demonstrated skills in data management plans, governance, and maturity models.
  • Experience developing policies, strategic plans, or action plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Experience supporting a chief data officer.
  • Experience working with senior government officials managing competing equities.
  • Experience coordinating complex concepts across diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of National and Department of Defense data management policies.
