About the position

The Principal Data Scientist will be a key individual contributor within the Industry Solution Engineering (ISE) team, focusing on solving complex problems through innovative data-driven solutions. This role involves collaborating closely with customers to leverage the latest technologies and develop cloud-based solutions that address their toughest challenges. The Principal Data Scientist will work alongside a cross-functional team to drive high-impact engineering projects, utilizing AI and other cloud services to transform customer missions. The position emphasizes continuous learning, collaboration, and the development of broadly applicable solutions that contribute to the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee data acquisition and ensure data is properly formatted and described.
  • Coach engineers in data cleaning and analysis best practices, identify gaps in current datasets, and drive ethical and privacy discussions around data collection and preparation.
  • Evaluate team models and recommend improvements as necessary, driving best practices for modeling and developing operational models that run at scale.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of data analysis and modeling techniques, identifying and inventing new evaluation methods.
  • Research and maintain a deep knowledge of the industry, including trends and technologies, to identify strategic opportunities and contribute to thought leadership best practices.
  • Write extensible code that spans multiple features and develop expertise in proper debugging techniques.
  • Define business, customer, and solution strategy goals, partnering with other teams to identify and explore new opportunities.
  • Commit to a customer-oriented focus by acknowledging their needs and offering pragmatic solutions that align with their data capabilities.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years of data science experience.
  • Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years of data science experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years of data science experience.
  • 3+ years of customer-facing, project delivery experience, professional service, and/or consulting experience.
