About the position

Bytoa is seeking an ambitious and innovative Principal Data Scientist to lead a talented agile team focused on developing next-generation tradecraft to meet the mission's most pressing cybersecurity needs. The role involves designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing data analytic solutions for customers, while staying current with the latest technologies and trends in data analytics and machine learning.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with mission stakeholders, technical leadership, and technical team members to develop and derive analytical tradecraft requirements and solutions.
  • Leading a team of data scientists in the development of analytic capabilities.
  • Developing and training machine learning systems based on statistical analysis of data characteristics to support automation.
  • Evaluating and validating the performance of analytics using standard techniques and metrics.
  • Developing and implementing innovative statistical, machine learning, and heuristics to assist with descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.

Requirements

  • Active security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years with a B.S., 8 years with a M.S. or 6 years with a PhD of experience analyzing data sets and developing analytics.
  • Experience with data analysis using R, Python, SAS and/or MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders, technical leadership, and analysts to decompose workflows and identify solutions for automation and higher-order processing.
  • Experience with corporate repositories and executing service calls to retrieve data.
  • Knowledge of emerging data science, machine learning, and pattern recognition techniques.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of corporate repositories containing cyber observables of interest.
  • Working knowledge of open source data sets containing cyber observables of interest.
  • Experience visualizing large, complex data sets.
  • Familiarity with Agile development and working within Agile teams.
