The Principal Data Scientist at Boston Scientific plays a crucial role in shaping the Customer Care and Capital Equipment analytics and AI strategy. This position focuses on creating foundational datasets and data solutions tailored to meet specific business needs, while analyzing data trends to generate insightful reports for internal stakeholders and customers. The role emphasizes collaboration with various teams to identify data requirements and leverage advanced technologies to enhance data engineering and AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Owners (POs) and Business Analysts (BAs) to convert needs into appropriate data assets for front-end solutions.
  • Create algorithms and drive machine learning solutions as required.
  • Provide strategic insights on technology capabilities to meet customer needs through data engineering and AI.
  • Maintain technical documentation of solutions and the data dictionary.
  • Interact with internal customers to determine data or report requirements and translate them into analytical reports.
  • Collect and track data, providing ongoing reporting and ad hoc analysis to share insights with the business.
  • Use data to highlight key organizational trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with businesses to identify insights, trends, and potential solutions to demonstrate business value.
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools for business use.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to optimize systems and reporting processes.
  • Maintain relationships with data and software vendors.
  • Assist in developing and communicating the data analytics strategy and operating plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 9+ years of related data analytics experience.
  • Ability to create complex data models.
  • Ability to create algorithms.
  • Experience using AI capabilities/models (OpenAI API, Microsoft CoPilot, etc.).
  • Ability to operate in various database environments (AWS, Snowflake, etc.).
  • High level of ownership and proactiveness.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to build partnerships and work cooperatively.
