About The Position

As a Principal Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing tens of highly available database clusters across geographically different data centers. Your role will ensure that the availability, scalability, and uptime requirements of database services are clearly understood and addressed. You will evaluate the progress and results of development efforts while preserving the integrity and design of the databases to support mission-critical databases necessary for business operations. Under minimal supervision, you will produce deliverables in alignment with the overall Transformation program, demonstrating mastery skills in your area of specialization. In this position, you will provide proactive knowledge and act as an escalation point for Engineering, Service Support, and Service Delivery. You will resolve issues and incidents within the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and proactively work with vendors and providers on issues identified in products, ensuring successful resolution. You will independently implement approved medium and large-scale projects that align with service and departmental goals, leading, coordinating, and managing all aspects of database implementation. Additionally, you will oversee the direction, development, and implementation of database software solutions, develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance, and report on findings with recommendations for improvement. You will also oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades, and carry off-hours escalation as part of a pager-rotation shift or an emergency with a 10-minute response time. Training new hires and NOC engineers on technology implementation will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring quick onboarding of new hires.
