About the position

The Principal Design Engineer, Storage System Architect at Celestica LLC is responsible for defining the architecture of storage and server systems, leading technology research, and interfacing with various teams to ensure successful implementation of complex solutions. This role requires a strong background in server design and knowledge of various protocols, with a focus on delivering high-quality products to market.

Responsibilities

  • Define complex storage/server/converged platform solutions and lead a multi-disciplined team to implementation.
  • Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.
  • Lead the RFQ technical response.
  • Deliver System Requirements Documents (SRD), requirement compliance assessments, and technical proposals.
  • Act as a primary technical interface between Celestica and customers, particularly in technical escalation.
  • Provide technical support to business development teams to assist in winning new business.
  • Participate in the selection and hiring of design team resources as required.
  • Identify and champion process improvement efforts as needed.
  • Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, and tradeshows.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge in server design, JBODs, and storage controllers and subsystems.
  • Experience in implementation of x86 based design.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, FC, SCSI, NVMe, SAS, and PCIe protocols.
  • Experience in rack level integration design is a plus.
  • Successful experience architecting and delivering server/storage/converged products to market.
  • Excellent customer presentation skills and ability to interface with large OEM and end user customers.
  • Broad knowledge of current digital and analogue components.
  • Successful New Product Introduction (NPI) launch experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of system level power, cooling, mechanical, SW/FW, and electrical design integration.
  • Prior participation in industry groups and associations is strongly desired.

  • System level integration, interoperability, and test experience.
  • System level manufacturing test experience.
