About the position

This position is for a Principal Engineer, Storage and Server System Architect at Celestica LLC. As a system architect, the individual will be responsible for defining the architecture of the Storage/Server system, leading new technology research, studying market trends, interfacing with customers, and guiding Celestica's design team in the Storage/Server domain. While the role is primarily hardware-focused, the candidate must also collaborate with software/firmware, mechanical, thermal, layout, signal integrity, and test teams as part of the system architecture process. A strong knowledge of server design, JBODs, and storage controllers and subsystems is essential, along with experience in implementing enterprise-class systems and cloud infrastructure. The candidate should be well-versed in x86-based design and familiar with protocols such as Ethernet, FC, SCSI, NVMe, SAS, and PCIe. Experience in rack-level integration design is considered a plus. The Principal Engineer will define complex storage, server, and converged platform solutions while leading a multi-disciplinary team to bring these solutions to implementation. This role requires extensive engagement through the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) phase and beyond, ensuring that overall design quality metrics are met. The successful candidate will develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers and partners regarding product roadmaps and technologies, lead the technical response for Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and deliver key documents such as System Requirements Documents (SRD) and technical proposals. Acting as the primary technical interface between Celestica and its customers, particularly during technical escalations, the candidate will provide technical support to business development teams to assist in securing new business opportunities. Additionally, the Principal Engineer will participate in the selection and hiring of design team resources, identify and champion process improvement efforts, and engage in standards committees and industry groups as assigned. The role also involves preparing and presenting technical presentations to customers, industry groups, and at tradeshows, while maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.
