About the position

The Principal DevSecOps Engineer at Palo Alto Networks is a key role within the InfoSec team, responsible for securing and delivering security for enterprise, SaaS, and public cloud security services. This position involves building, maintaining, and scaling critical security production services in a Google Cloud Platform environment, while collaborating with various teams to ensure infrastructure scalability and reliability. The role emphasizes innovation, adaptability, and the implementation of security capabilities to protect the company's environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and scale production infrastructure and services in InfoSec cloud environments.
  • Work with development teams to ensure applications fit within the infrastructure and that scalability/reliability is designed and implemented from the ground up.
  • Implement observability stack across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Establish and improve adaptability, process, and operational readiness through prior understanding and experience of DevOps.
  • Implement security capabilities and services to protect Palo Alto Networks enterprise and hosting environments.
  • Write automation code for provisioning and operating infrastructure at massive scale.
  • Partner with the Reliability Engineering team to create and implement DevSecOps principles, processes, and culture.
  • Collaborate with application developers and database administrators to deliver creative solutions to technology challenges and business requirements.
  • Counsel project teams and application owners on information security controls.
  • Participate in on-call schedule to troubleshoot incidents and fix production issues to meet SLA goals.
  • Conduct postmortem reviews and provide remediation recommendations to service teams.
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed security services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience with at least 3 years in DevOps automation and tooling, including cloud security.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security architecture, web application security, vulnerability management, and security engineering.
  • Experience in building and releasing infrastructure-as-code (IAC) in a controlled environment with an understanding of full lifecycle configuration management.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (preferred) or AWS, and containerized environments (Kubernetes).
  • Ability to leverage DevOps/DevSecOps tools to build, harden, maintain, and instrument a comprehensive cloud-based security orchestration platform.
  • Developed automated security and compliance capabilities in support of DevOps processes in large-scale cloud computing environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve issues related to systems or networking quickly.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple issues.
  • Ability to create design specifications and prepare technical documentation and run-books.
