About the position

The Principal Developer role at the Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT) is a strategic position focused on leading application delivery within a collaborative team environment. This remote position, available to current OIT employees, involves coding, monitoring, and maintaining workflows while mentoring junior developers. The role emphasizes consultation with various stakeholders and managing the Scrum process to enhance development efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Consult with Solution Architects, Solution Engineers, Business Analysts, Customers, and Project Managers.
• Manage Scrum process, identify and recommend changes/improvements to development policy, process.
• Problem solve development issues leading to the most efficient implementation possible.
• Participate in application management; streamline development processes.
• Conduct code reviews with team developers.
• Handle simultaneous requests of varying complexity from within OIT.
• Lead a development team using an Agile methodology, responsible for assigning, monitoring, and evaluating technical tasks.

Requirements

• Experience applying digital accessibility regulations and standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) to business processes, content, tools, and/or documents.
• 8 years of experience as a software developer in progressively more complex assignments with experience managing requirements for software application development, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.

Nice-to-haves

• Deep understanding of ServiceNow platforms, solutions, and technical capabilities.
• 5 years of public sector IT experience.
• ITIL knowledge preferred.
• 2-5 years experience with the ServiceNow platform preferred.
• ServiceNow administration, JavaScript and common scripting languages such as PowerShell preferred.
• ServiceNow certified systems administrator certification.
• ServiceNow Developer certification.
