About the position

The Principal Electrical CAD Designer at Northrop Grumman plays a crucial role in the Hardware Engineering team, focusing on creating and reviewing electrical designs and drawings for a Defence maritime platform management project. This position is essential for enhancing the capabilities of the Electrical CAD Design team, contributing to the development of multi-domain command and control systems critical to the Royal Navy. The role emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and adherence to industry standards in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical schematics using AutoCAD electrical
• Support the creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM)
• Provide electrical engineering support to the Electrical Design Engineering team
• Develop component libraries to support schematics
• Review electrical schematics in accordance with relevant standards and internal Computer Aided Design (CAD) processes
• Maintain documents and drawings through development and production changes
• Collaboratively support other engineering functions from a mechanical drawing perspective
• Raise and action Change Notes (CN)
• Manage and adhere to configuration management processes for baseline control throughout the full project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Strong experience in an Electrical CAD position
• Understanding and working knowledge of electrical related Defence Standards, including Lloyds Register and other Military Standards (e.g. Def Stan 59-411)
• Proficient user of AutoCAD Electrical or similar
• Ability to work independently on own initiative, as well as within a collaborative team environment
• Ability to work under pressure in a complex and rapidly changing environment
• Security clearance: Must be able to gain and maintain the relevant UK Government security clearance in line with the job role (SC).
