About the position

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their team in Atlanta, Georgia. This role focuses on designing electrical power systems specifically for the municipal water/wastewater industry. The Principal Electrical Engineer will collaborate with a team of professionals to provide technical and design consulting services, manage projects, and support the growth of the municipal water/wastewater practice.

Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate electrical systems for water/wastewater projects, focusing on medium and low voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding.
  • Manage project tasks, budgets, and delivery schedules.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets for new projects.
  • Support business development for the South Region Resilience Water.
  • Coordinate with Control Systems and Process Mechanical groups.
  • Establish design criteria and perform design calculations, including developing one-line diagrams and control schematics.
  • Provide engineering services during construction, including reviewing equipment submittals and responding to contractor RFIs.
  • Conduct field inspections and oversee construction projects, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
  • Lead the electrical group in electrical safety and adherence to the National Electrical Code.
  • Perform system analysis using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or other power systems analysis software.

Requirements

  • 12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, preferably with an emphasis on power.
  • Professional Engineering PE License.
  • Solid working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, Field Instrumentation, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Experience using ETAP, SKM Power Tools or other power systems analysis software.
  • NFPA 70E Training.
