About the position

The Principal Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer at Raytheon will be responsible for conducting electrical component evaluations and root cause failure analysis. This role requires expertise in electrical schematics, circuit analysis, and various testing methodologies to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical components. The engineer will work on a range of devices, from simple passive components to complex microcircuits, and will utilize advanced laboratory equipment to perform detailed analyses and document findings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical component evaluations and root cause failure analysis.
  • Conduct external visual photo-documentation and electrical tests.
  • Engage in non-destructive troubleshooting and environmental testing.
  • Utilize x-ray evaluation and destructive testing methods.
  • Conduct decapsulation and cross-section analyses.
  • Perform internal visual photo-documentation and scanning electron microscope (SEM) evaluations.
  • Write detailed final reports on analysis findings.
  • Operate laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Research and experiment with new failure analysis techniques.
  • Manage multiple analyses concurrently and collaborate with engineers in other disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or 12+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in electronic component failure analysis.
  • Proficiency in using electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of reading electrical schematics and circuit analysis.
  • Familiarity with component data sheets and drawings.
  • Data collection and presentation skills for report writing.
  • Technical working knowledge of electrical components and their applications.
