About the position

This position is for a Principal Electrical Engineer with a focus on hands-on work within multidiscipline teams at Raytheon. The role is based in Tucson, Arizona, a city known for its friendly atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings. The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) Directorate is responsible for developing test solutions for all Raytheon products, and the Principal Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in this process. The position requires a strong background in electrical engineering, with responsibilities that include designing, developing, and integrating test products. The engineer will work on both engineering and production test systems, which involves creating test interface adapters, cabling, technical drawings, schematics, and conducting circuit design and analysis. The successful candidate will contribute to all stages of test product development, ensuring that technical, cost, and schedule aspects are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to identify and resolve issues related to the development and implementation of test products. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate Raytheon test products within TEE in multidiscipline engineering teams.
  • Develop both engineering and production test systems, including test interface adapters and cabling.
  • Create technical drawings, schematics, and conduct circuit design and analysis.
  • Contribute to the completion of all stages of test product development, managing technical, cost, and schedule aspects of assigned projects.
  • Act independently or as part of a team to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of test products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and eight (8) years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • Experience with electrical engineering design, including troubleshooting, analysis, and testing.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering design and analysis tools such as Altium, DX Designer, Mentor Capital, and Creo Schematic.
  • Experience with test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers, and power meters.
  • Proficiency in using schematic capture tools and interpreting schematics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Experience performing analog, digital, and/or RF design.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in a multidiscipline team environment.
  • Experience designing, testing, and integrating digital, mixed signal, and electrical system interconnect.
  • Proficient technical writing and formal presentation skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and optimization techniques.
