About the position

This position is for a Principal Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years of professional experience, located in Tucson, Arizona. The role is part of the Test Equipment Engineering Team Directorate, which is responsible for developing test solutions for all Raytheon products. The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) Directorate is a multi-discipline organization that engages in all elements of the development lifecycle for test products. Engineers in this team are hands-on, utilizing the latest technology and tools to design interface assemblies, select and integrate test instruments, and develop test systems for various Raytheon products. The work environment in Tucson is described as friendly and laid-back, with a vibrant metropolitan atmosphere surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, making it an attractive location for professionals. In this role, the Principal Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of Raytheon test products within TEE, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. The engineer will develop both engineering and production test systems, including test interface adapters, cabling, technical drawings, schematic creation, circuit design, and analysis. The candidate will contribute to all stages of test product development and will be responsible for managing technical, cost, and schedule aspects of assigned projects. The role requires the ability to work independently or as part of a team to identify and resolve issues related to the development and implementation of test products. A U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required prior to the start date, and U.S. citizenship is necessary for eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate Raytheon test products within TEE in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Develop both engineering and production test systems, including test interface adapters and cabling.
  • Create technical drawings and schematics, and perform circuit design and analysis.
  • Contribute to the completion of all stages of test product development.
  • Manage technical, cost, and schedule aspects of assigned projects.
  • Act independently or as part of a team to uncover and resolve issues associated with test product development.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and eight (8) years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with electrical engineering design, including troubleshooting, analysis, and testing.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering design and analysis tools such as Altium, DX Designer, Mentor Capital, and Creo Schematic.
  • Experience with commonly used test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers, and power meters.
  • Proficiency in using schematic capture tools and interpreting schematics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience performing analog, digital, and/or RF design.
  • Experience designing, testing, and integrating digital, mixed signal, and electrical system interconnects.
  • Familiarity with integrated development environments and debugging tools for software troubleshooting.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage workload to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in a team environment with proficient technical writing and formal presentation skills.
  • Project management experience and bid/proposal experience.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with developing and implementing programming languages.
