About the position

The Principal Electrical Engineer at V2X will play a crucial role in supporting a critical product sustainment program. This position involves hands-on troubleshooting of hardware, addressing obsolete subsystems, and leading functional test efforts to ensure quality in new item use. The engineer will collaborate closely with the Chief Engineer and program leads on various technical sustainment initiatives, particularly focusing on complex electrical systems including power supplies, RF components, and digital communications interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Perform test and troubleshooting of customer hardware, including potential travel to FMS customer sites.
  • Support program Engineering Review Boards (ERBs) and Change Control Boards (CCBs) as the lead Electrical Engineer for the system.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing personnel during build and repair activities.
  • Participate in updates and modifications of test equipment.
  • Support Government certification of test equipment modifications.
  • Lead efforts to source and/or design replacement parts for obsolete or near-obsolete items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related STEM field.
  • Eight or more years of relevant work experience in engineering design or development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of RF design principles.
  • Experience in electrical design analysis and testing for RF, analog, and digital signal processing.
  • Proficiency in documenting functional specification requirements and drafting technical documentation.
  • Experience with electrical engineering design tools such as schematic capture and simulation.
  • Ability to work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) that includes various engineering and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Defense (DOD) program management or IPT experience.
  • Experience with Z80 and Z8000 microprocessors.
  • Experience planning Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
  • Knowledge of Frequency Modulated and Phase Modulated RF circuit design concepts.
  • Experience with DoD Internal Research and Development (IRAD) and Customer Research and Development (CRAD) programs.
  • Familiarity with weapon systems or special mission military platforms.
  • Experience with the DoD development process.
  • Current security clearance at the Secret level.
