About the position

The Electronic Warfare (EW) Division at Leidos is a leading research and development organization with a focus on advancing technologies that dominate the electromagnetic spectrum and enhance national defense capabilities. This division, comprising 430 employees, is dedicated to the research, design, and development of Electronic Warfare systems, directed energy systems, high-speed/hypersonic weapon systems, and communications/networking systems. The EW Division collaborates with various esteemed customers, including DARPA, IARPA, ONR, and other Department of Defense services, to deliver cutting-edge solutions that ensure the security and effectiveness of our nation's defense strategies. We are currently seeking a Senior Principal RF Electrical Engineer to join our talented multi-disciplinary design team. This role involves directing the design and development of innovative RF hardware systems, requiring a strong background in RF hardware design, testing, and measurement. The successful candidate will provide technical advice and input that significantly impacts strategic client outputs and Leidos' business results. This position also entails mentoring and coaching other technical staff, serving as the Principal Investigator on complex multi-disciplinary programs, and leading technical efforts on proposals. The Senior Principal RF Electrical Engineer will work on diverse problems, determining methods and procedures for new assignments while providing feedback and recommendations to other technical personnel. Interaction with external customers, suppliers, and functional peer groups is essential, and some travel to remote sites may be required. The role demands strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of Electronic Warfare applications and systems, particularly in the SIGINT and radar fields.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical advice/input that impacts strategic client outputs and Leidos business results.
  • Impacts functional strategy by developing new solutions, processes, standards, or operational plans that position Leidos competitively in the marketplace.
  • Mentors and coaches other technical staff.
  • Serves as Principal Investigator on complex multi-disciplinary programs that typically include field demonstration of real-time hardware systems.
  • Serves as Technical Lead on complex multi-disciplinary proposals.
  • Works on problems of diverse scope, determining methods and procedures to be used on new assignments, and providing feedback and recommendations to other technical personnel.
  • Interacts with outside customers, suppliers, and functional peer groups.
  • Provides status reports to project managers and/or division production manager as required.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Master's degree with 15+ years prior relevant experience or Doctorate with 13+ years prior relevant experience.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to receive TS/SCI clearance.
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex multi-disciplinary technical teams and/or projects.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in Electronic Warfare applications and systems, SIGINT, and/or radar fields as a subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrated RF electronic warfare design experience and ability to apply theoretical knowledge in resolving real-world problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Idea creation and program capture experience (proposals, white papers, etc.).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced Research and Development (R&D) environment.
  • Active TS or TS/SCI clearance.
