About the position

The Principal Electronics Engineer position at Northrop Grumman involves working within the Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS) team, focusing on providing sustainment support for various military aircraft. The role includes responsibilities in engineering, reverse engineering, and logistics to address complex obsolescence issues and ensure the supportability of warfighter systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and mentoring in addition to being an individual performer
  • Analyze complex electronic circuitry and precision electro-mechanical assemblies through simulation or analysis to recommend component substitutions or re-design solutions
  • Identify, analyze, and solve obsolescence issues
  • Access, interpret, and recommend changes to engineering drawings
  • Establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules
  • Identify program problems and assist in establishing solutions, such as allocation of resources, improved processes, or changing contractual specifications
  • Act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of programs
  • Support process improvement and establishment
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Generate reports and present to Government counterparts, defense contractors, and other cross-functional organizations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, or a master's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience
  • Ability to obtain/maintain access to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  • Experience with RF systems
  • Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot/repair hardware components
  • Experience with CAD or similar design tools
  • Experience with aerospace systems
  • Experience with Air Force customers and aerospace industry and military standards
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (or higher)
  • Experience with test planning at the circuit card, equipment, and system level
  • Experience with nuclear hardened systems
  • Experience with information security, COMSEC, and TEMPEST
  • Experience with DOORS and general requirements management best practices
  • Experience with embedded software development and/or cybersecurity
  • Experience conducting analysis of electrical components within aircraft maintenance programs, determining effectiveness, and creating written recommendations for increasing efficiency and effectiveness
