About the position

The Principal Email & Digital Direct Marketing Channel Specialist at Discover Financial Services is responsible for leading the strategy to acquire new cardmembers through targeted email and digital media campaigns. This role requires a strong marketing background, focusing on direct response marketing, and involves collaboration with various internal teams and external vendors to develop, execute, and evaluate marketing strategies. The specialist will manage channel product strategies, analyze market trends, and optimize business initiatives through data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy for acquiring new cardmembers through email and digital marketing campaigns.
• Develop and execute market tests to optimize business goals.
• Monitor channel performance and create performance reports for management.
• Gather and interpret data on competitors, consumer, and industry trends.
• Collaborate with internal teams to leverage email and digital platforms for marketing initiatives.
• Identify and evaluate external vendors for audience management and testing strategies.
• Manage legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements across all channels.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in marketing, project management, product management, or analytics.
• Strong knowledge of email marketing and direct response marketing.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in business, marketing, mathematics, engineering, social sciences, statistics, or communications.
• 8+ years of experience in business, finance, marketing & advertising, or advertising technology.
• Experience with vendor management and customer journey mapping.
