As a Principal Engineer in ASIC Design (Integration) at Microchip Technology, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in the design, integration, and verification support of Full Chip Architecture and Full Chip Control/Data busses for advanced ASIC or FPGA projects. This position is integral to the engineering community at Microchip, where you will be responsible for ensuring seamless integration of various components on the device, which includes both Hard and Soft IP blocks that support numerous industry-standard protocols. Your work will involve detailed module design and integration, performance analysis, and the creation of detailed design specifications. You will take ownership of full chip documentation for the SOC or FPGA device and/or device family, participating actively in the Verilog implementation and integration of full chip capabilities. This includes interface support, integration of full chip busses (control and data network-on-chip), and documentation support at the full chip level. You will also support full chip post-layout timing closure and verification, and participate in the investigation and assessment of legacy and emerging integration techniques, as well as on-chip and off-chip network-on-chip (NOC) bus structures for both control and high-speed data paths. Your responsibilities will extend to improving data and command processing bandwidth, reducing latencies, and increasing reliability. You will support the porting of designs into test chips and emulation platforms, as well as pre-tapeout verification and post-tapeout validation/characterization of the designed system. Collaboration with FPGA support software and firmware engineers will be essential to resolve hardware and customer issues effectively. This role requires a strong technical leader who thrives in a team-oriented environment and possesses extensive experience in SOC IP development and full chip integration. You will be expected to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to produce clean, readable presentations. Self-motivation and a proactive approach are key attributes for success in this position.
