About the position

Johnson & Johnson MedTech | Vision is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join the Digital Surgery and Connected Practice and Operating Room (CP&OR) R&D Team. This role is pivotal in transforming the field of ophthalmology by creating an integrated and efficient operating room environment. The position is hybrid, allowing for work from Jacksonville, FL, Milpitas, CA, Irvine, CA, or Sao Paulo, Brazil. At Johnson & Johnson, we believe that health is everything, and our commitment to healthcare innovation empowers us to build a world where complex diseases are prevented, treated, and cured. Our expertise in Innovative Medicine and MedTech positions us uniquely to innovate across the full spectrum of healthcare solutions today, delivering breakthroughs that profoundly impact health for humanity. The Digital Surgery and CP&OR group was established with the goal of optimizing patient outcomes, minimizing time spent in the operating room, and enhancing overall efficiency of surgical workflows. We recognize the importance of understanding the specific needs of patients and physicians to drive innovation. By leveraging our expertise in software development, clinical science, and state-of-the-art data science and ML/AI tools, we are conceptualizing, prototyping, and ultimately developing a connected practice and operating room solution. Our aim is to seamlessly integrate technology and medical practices to improve outcomes and streamline processes in the field of ophthalmology. As a Data Engineer, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop and implement data integration solutions for ophthalmology clinics and surgical sites. You will design and develop data pipelines to pull together and merge data from various sources, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and medical devices used in cataract and refractive surgeries. Your role will involve extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from disparate sources while ensuring data quality and integrity during the integration process. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable and efficient data processing workflows, implementing data governance practices, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA to secure patient data privacy. Additionally, you will collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications and data integration solutions, optimizing data models and structures to support data analysis and reporting initiatives.
