About the position

As a Principal Engineer on the Platform team, you will play a crucial role in building and supporting services that empower development teams to utilize frameworks, tooling, and services across both in-house and vendor PaaS/IaaS offerings. This position involves defining the architectural roadmap, establishing best practices, and providing education on these services. You will contribute to cloud architecture, automation, and delivery while mentoring team members and influencing the architectural direction of the organization. The goal is to enhance the efficiency of product-focused teams through automation and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Build out services and tooling to enhance cloud capabilities using AWS services like EKS, ECS, EC2, Lambda, and Parallel Cluster.
  • Collaborate with AWS partners to leverage architecture and support services.
  • Review, comment, and approve pull/merge requests.
  • Commit to automating the entire software delivery lifecycle.
  • Contribute to defining cloud strategy and guiding technology decisions for the organization.
  • Analyze the current technology environment to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Consult on infrastructure projects to align systems with technical architecture and user needs.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule to provide after-hours support when necessary.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • At least 7 years of prior experience in a relevant field.
  • Proven record of building scalable and durable services in AWS.
  • Knowledge of migration strategies for legacy workloads to AWS.
  • Expert knowledge of common patterns and software architecture.
  • Experience developing services/libraries across multiple programming languages.
  • Experience with Python, TypeScript, Go, or C# relevant to the current stack.
  • Experience with IaC and k8s configuration management tools like Terraform, helm, and kustomize.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Linux and Docker.
  • Familiarity with scripting in POSIX sh.
  • Structured approach to troubleshooting and practical experience with networking.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and a focus on customer service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Financial services exposure is a plus.
  • CDK experience is a plus.
